DIET Jalpaiguri is ensconced in a village, Belakoba, behind a row of shops just beside the main road that winds through the village & towards Jalpaiguri or Siliguri (depending where you want to go). Time, here, is marked by the different colours, sizes of the different harvests grown in the fields. However, you can reach it by train or bus. Belakoba is known for three things its “cham cham”, “Battala Haat” & “Basic College”, so much that a ‘more’ has been named after it, “College More”. Across the road some meters away, a small dilapidated post office bears a board on which is written Belakoba, P.O.- Prasanna nagar, Dist- Jalpaiguri, PIN- 735133. As a residential co-ed institute peopled with uniformed young trainees, the D.El.Ed. course has been running for the past 9 years, interspersed with in-service training of primary teachers.
